What is Dermapen?

Dermapen is a revolutionary Micro-needling device which uses a unique disposable needle tip with an automated, vibrating motion, it is safer and more effective than traditional skin needling rollers, treating all ethnicities and over 20 different skin conditions.

The automated needling motion minimizes pain and discomfort, while increasing the effectiveness of topicals into the skin. It is as effective as Fractional Laser Therapy and IPL, but has a significantly shorter recovery period.

What can Dermapen treat?

  • Skin tightening and rejuvenation

  • Reducing fine lines and wrinkles

  • Improving stretch marks

  • Minimize pore size

  • Improving surgical and acne scars

  • Increase skin hydration

  • Acne and congested skins

  • Even skin tone & texture

What to expect at your visit?

Prior to the procedure our aesthetician will explain the process to you and clearly define your expectations of the treatment and how many sessions will generally be needed. This will vary depending on what condition is being treated and the severity.

Expect anywhere from 3-8 sessions spaced between 4 – 6 weeks apart. They will tell you whether or not the results you are looking for will be achievable using this method. Oftentimes dermapen plus another modality such as a laser can achieve maximum results within a quicker time frame.

There is minimal pain and we do not apply any anesthetic/numbing cream as this hinders the skin renewal process, which can affect results. The needle depth will be customised to your skin, anywhere from 0.2mm to 3mm for body scar revision. You may experience a slight discomfort in certain areas, but again not enough for anesthetic to be applied to the skin. The needling process takes just 10minutes.

What to expect after your treatment?

You may experience facial redness for 12-48 hours after the treatment. A tinted zinc cream will be applied to the skin immediately following the treatment to disguise any redness and calm the skin. You may develop petechiae, which is when little blood vessels burst under your skin causing tiny red dots which will disappear within a few days. Most people are able to return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment.

  • You will need to avoid sun exposure prior to and following your treatment.

  • Any tightness or flaking may be relieved with moisturisation

  • The use of scrubs or active ingredients such as vitamin A or AHAs should be stopped for a minimum of 5 days.

  • Redness or petechiae (blood blisters) may be easily concealed with a mineral make-up during recovery.

  • Avoid high-cardio workouts and any activities that may cause heat or sweat for a minimum of 48 hours post-Dermapen treatment.

Typically you will see results after your first treatment however, skin collagen remodeling can be seen from 4 to eight weeks later. Each session will have continued skin improvement. Lasting and more significant results will occur after 4-6 treatments when spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
